Viveve Treatment for stress incontinence

A recent study from Canada has reported that the Viveve Treatment (previously GeneveveTM by Viveve) can be an effective non-surgical treatment for stress incontinence after childbirth.  This is great news – especially for women with mild to moderate stress incontinence who wish to avoid major surgery.  I was invited to present this research at the 5CC / ESAG conference in Barcelona on 2nd September 2018.

The study was carried out in Canada and involved 35 women with mild to moderate stress incontinence who received the Viveve Treatment. Viveve is a safe, painless, cryogen-cooled radio-frequency treatment with no down-time.  Viveve has already been clinically proven to improve vaginal laxity and sexual function (you can find more details in the services section of my website).

The results from the recent study have demonstrated that women treated with Viveve reported significantly reduced urinary incontinence and improved quality of life.  Based on a pad-weight test which measures urinary leakage, 77% of women with mild stress incontinence were cured.

Viveve have a strong track record of carrying out high quality clinical research and have recently launched a large randomised placebo-controlled trial (LIBERATE International) to further investigate the Viveve Treatment for stress incontinence after childbirth.  This study will recruit 100 women with mild to moderate stress incontinence.  Women will receive either the Viveve Treatment or a dummy (placebo) treatment.  A second study will be carried out in the United States involving 250 women. I will keep you posted on the results of these studies.
